It’s relatively easy to project the likelihood of being drafted with a season full of video and box scores to go off of. Predicting who NBA team will target in 2016 mere days after the 2015 draft took place, now that’s a challenge.
A popular challenge, at that. 2016 NBA mock drafts have been popping up left and right the past few days. I figured preserving them in one place would give us a great baseline of what national experts are projecting for Marquette’s highest rated recruit in three decades, Henry Ellenson.
SB Nation – Ricky O’Donnell
Undrafted in 2016
SI.com – David Gardner
No. 16
“Marquette coach Steve Wojciechowski made waves in October when he landed a commitment from Ellenson. Ellenson, a big man with elite offensive skills for his age, was the No. 4 player in his class, according to Rivals.com. He will instantly become the primary offensive threat for the Golden Eagles, who are only beginning the rebuilding phase.”
CBS.com – Gary Parrish

Draft Express

Bleacher Report – Jared Johnson

No. 9
“Skill-wise, he can shoot, go to the post and handle the ball. He finishes with both hands and has range beyond the 3-point line. Ellenson even has impressive footwork, to round it all out. If he can get into the proper physical shape and solidify his defense, Ellenson can be an All-Star at the next level.”

“A sweet-shooting big man with very advanced offensive skills.”

So there you have the national perspective. A bit of a mixed bag: 4 think he’ll be a lottery pick, 2 think he’ll go in the first round but not in the lottery, and 4 think he won’t be drafted/in the lottery.
There isn’t much to analyze at this point, as it’s hard to fault people for holding opinions. We’ll just bookmark this post and use this as a barometer as the season progresses.
