Marquette picks up commitment from 2014 Malek Harris

Marquette picked up its first commitment from the class of 2014 when Malek Harris, a 6-foot-7 switchable from Illinois, committed after taking his visit earlier on Wednesday.

Harris had taken a visit to Purdue and was scheduled to go to Northwestern tomorrow, but decided he had seen enough.

From eariler:

– Malek Harris (6-foot-7 forward, Carl Sandburg H.S., Ill.)
ESPN: 3-star, not ranked; Rivals: 3-star, No. 118; Scout: 3-star, not ranked

Listed schools: DePaul, Iowa, Miami, Miami (OH), Illinois, Kansas State, Louisville, Marquette, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon State, Purdue

Analysis: A solid rebounder who excels on the defensive end // Harris is solid finishing around the rim but admits he can work on his outside game and explosiveness around the basket // says he is doing jump training to work on this // recently received interest from Wisconsin, but has three offers (Miami OH, DePaul, Iowa) // a definite switchable
