After another dunk-filled game from Oso Ighodaro against Villanova, I started diving into his clips on Synergy and though not necessarily surprised, was still amazed by just how many came via Tyler Kolek’s passes.
So much so that I had to put a little cut together of the 19 they’ve connected for so far just in Big East play this season.
If you want some additional context on how impressive that is, no other Big East duo has more than 16 in the whole season, cupcakes and all.
Jenkins -> Soriano: 16
Alexander -> Kalkbrenner: 15
Newton -> Samoson: 13
Kolek has assisted on 25 total Oso dunks this season, which makes up 58% of Oso’s total dunks, per Synergy’s tracking. They are easily on pace to surpass last season’s total of 30 from last season.

It’s easy to see that we are witnessing one of the greatest connections in the sport right now, if not in Marquette history. Out of Oso’s 81 assisted field goals, Kolek has assisted on 66.7%, up from 62% last season. I am savoring every moment we have left with them.
And speaking of dunks, despite losing its 2nd most prolific dunker in OMax, Marquette is keeping pace with last year’s dunk rates, mostly due to Oso’s dominance. He currently has more dunks (43) this season than any single season from any non-Oso player since 2010, per barttorvik.com.

Alone or together, there’s just so much to marvel at with Oso and Tyler.

Oso and Tyler have magic between, simply a joy to watch knowing on the court the two are in sync!
Go Marquette!
