Where is Kam Jones predicted to be drafted?

Obviously, no one knows the answer until tonight/tomorrow, but as I have done the last 4 years, I have put together a tracker of some of the most reputable and consistent media outlets to give us a better idea.

And turns out there is a fair amount of discrepancy, but all pretty much consistent that he won’t be picked in the first round.

Highest

No Ceilings has Kam going highest at No. 29, up from 47 when the post-season draft process started in April.

As the lead guy for the Golden Eagles this season, Kam grew as a playmaker, rounding out into a complete offensive threat. Jones has shown the ability to be a solid defender against both backcourt positions, which will come in handy with him taking on a scaled-down role in the NBA. Now that he will be able to play with other ball-handlers, Kam’s shooting should even out to the point where he will be a threat from deep.

Lowest

Sports Illustrated is the only outlet I found to have Kam fall to the 50s, though ESPN’s Draft Express has been the most consistently down on Kam, not putting him in the top half of the 2nd round once.

Of course there are way more projections out there, some with great data and solid reputations, I just went with mainstream outlets that consistently follow the day to day.

But plenty of amateur scouts have made some incredible cases for Kam and have him significantly higher.

Consensus

Early 2nd round would be a safe bet, but the difficult part about projecting the 2nd round is that once trades start rolling in hot and heavy, you don’t know which team will pick where, so it’s hard to project what needs they will have.

My other takeaway from this roundup, there has been surprisingly little movement over the past 2 months, and that’s with an underwhelming combine in which he picked up an injury. Yes, there’s some churn, but unlike OMax who shot up, or Justin Lewis who kept sliding, Kam’s prospects really didn’t change over the draft process.

One last note, since the NBA draft solidified at 2 rounds, Marquette has only had 5 guards drafted. Wherever he goes, Kam is entering some rare company.
