Marquette in the NBA: March Update

Olivier-Maxence Prosper

It has been an eventful season for the Golden Eagles in the Association. Unfortunately the book is closed on Olivier-Maxence Prosper’s Sophomore season in the League.

On March 7th, Shams Charania reported that OMax had sustained a wrist injury that would shut him down for the season. A few nights prior, he scored 9 points while chipping in 2 rebounds and 2 assists, on his former home floor in Milwaukee against the Bucks. All injuries are bad, but this was a real unfortunate injury for OMax. He was set for major minutes with all of the other injuries Dallas has.

OMax finished the season with 201 points, 126 rebounds, 40 assists, 26 steals and 6 blocks. He scored a season high, 20 points on January 27th against the Wizards and even recorded a few starts on the year. The Mavericks have already exercised his 3rd year option of his 4 year $13,870,583 contract, so we should see OMax back in Dallas next season!

Jimmy Butler

Elsewhere, the Golden State Warriors are firing on all cylinders. Since acquiring Jimmy Butler, the Warriors are 13-2 with a 13-1 record in games that Jimmy has played in. It seems to be a perfect fit with the defensive minded Butler alongside Steph Curry.

Jimmy is averaging 16.8 points, 5.8 assists, 5.6 rebounds and 1.3 steals per contest. Here is the TNT crew talking about Jimmy’s impact.

A lot of season left, but the Warriors absolutely look to be a factor in the chase for another Title. Jimmy has already signed his 2 year, near $111,000,000 extension with the Warriors through 2027.

Oso Ighodaro

Oso has had an up and down season, strictly due to playing time. He was a real strong rotational piece for the Suns all season up until they acquired Nick Richards at the trade deadline. Oso saw his minutes basically vanish. Richards sat with injury last night so Oso was inserted as the backup Center behind Mason Plumlee. Plumlee finished the game with a -7 in the plus/minus category in a game the Suns won by 16. Oso on the other hand finished with 11 points, 6 rebounds, and a block with a +23 in the plus/minus. He even earned himself a Postgame interview with the Phoenix TV Crew.

Oso is averaging 3.5 points per game on nearly 60% from the floor, but his impact is noticeable every time he touches the court.

The staff and some of the players, including Kevin Durant were raving about Oso’s discipline and high IQ. All things we’ve known about Oso for a long time. Hopefully this is enough to get Oso some more run in meaningful games down the stretch. Stay tuned for more as the NBA approaches playoff time!
