Marquette in the NBA: Jimmy Butler Scorches as Miami Feels the Heat

Jimmy Butler

Rumors started to fly last week that the Miami Heat may be open to trading Jimmy Butler. Golden State, Dallas, Houston, and Phoenix were the four mentioned as possible destinations. As things start to heat up in the rumor mill, Jimmy has also started to heat up on the court. Miami has won four of the past five games with the lone loss coming Monday against Detroit. Jimmy finished with 35 points, 19 rebounds, and 10 assists.

When you add in the 4 steals and 0 turnovers it puts him in company of his own as the only player ever with that specific stat line. A monster triple double…in a losing effort. Rumors are rumors, but seeing your star drop a triple double in a losing effort isn’t going to make things easier in the media. We will continue to monitor the situation between Jimmy and Miami.

The Others

It was a very quiet week for the rest of the Golden Eagles in the NBA.

Olivier-Maxence Prosper carved out a little bit of a role due to illness sweeping through the Dallas Mavericks locker room. OMax found himself getting a handful of 1st half minutes and had 9 points in 25 total minutes against the Warriors and Thunder.

Oso Ighodaro on the other hand seemingly lost minutes with Phoenix and had a strange role this week. He got about 6 minutes at the end of the 1st quarter and beginning of the 2nd quarter of games and saw no time the rest of the way.

Tyler Kolek was sent to the Knicks G-League affiliate in Westchester where he had an 18 point, 9 rebound, 8 assist effort in Game 1. He followed it up with 30 points, 6 rebounds, and 10 assists in Game 2. He looks to be too good for the G-League but can’t seem to find minutes with the Knicks. If he keeps performing like that he will likely force the Knicks hand at some point.
