Videos from Marquette’s open practice

We’ve been thirsting for any actual basketball action from Marquette, as it’s been over 4 months since we last saw them on the floor. So I was irrationally excited for Thursday’s open practice at the Al McGuire Center, getting our first look at life post Tyler and Oso.

For those of us outside of Milwaukee that meant relying on reading the thoughts of those in attendance, and the benevolence of those grabbing some videos. To make it easier to round up, I wanted to put that all in one place.

GOAT Recap

And if you haven’t done so yet, stop reading this and click on Ben Steele’s recap in the Journal-Sentinel right now, it’s an incredible summary.

From the article:

The 6-7 Owens handled the ball in the open floor, threw down a couple dunks and showed defensive versatility and feel for the game. He had a one-handed putback that was especially impressive.

“It’s great for them to get out there,” Smart said. “You could tell they were nervous. I thought Damarius had the best night of any of the new guys.

“He’s just such a Swiss Army Knife, he can do so many things out there on the floor. Offensively, defensively. In eight weeks, he’s already gained trust and confidence of his teammates and his coaches to put the ball in his hands so he can make decisions. He’s been a good passer.

I say it often but I’ll say it once more, getting this kind of coverage from the local beat writer is not the norm. If you don’t have a JS sub, there are always digital subs for a dollar or so. It’s worth so much more.

Videos

But it’s also always cool to see the team for yourself, so I’m putting together as many as I could find in here. Huge thanks to all who shared.
