I try to not be a typical blog aggregator, simply cashing in on other’s work. But there are times when you see and hear something so profound, you have to cut it down to bite size piece to make sure as many people as you can possibly get to hear it, actually hear it.
This is one of those times.
Tyler Kolek is friends with former Syracuse and Villanova player, and current Miami Heat player, Cole Swider and has been on Swider’s podcast before. It was an excellent segment, so I figured this one would be worthwhile to listen to. It does not disappoint.
But I know that most people that see a 20+ minute YouTube video or Podcast will never actually press play, let alone listen to the full thing, so this is where I’m going to do the typical blogger thing and drill home what I believe is the juiciest bit.
When asked about his future and the NBA, Kolek explained how he tries to stay in the moment, but realizes this could be his last dance, so is a bit more cognizant of savoring it.
I can’t recommend Kolek’s mentality enough. Although the program Shaka is building looks to be sustainable and not necessarily reliant on one player, there’s no guarantee we’ll ever get a season as anticipated as this one, with results that have so far matched or exceeded those expectations.
We are nearly 1/3rd of the way through this run, and before we know it we will have nothing but memories to reminisce on. So listen to the man himself, and cherish it.
